Four advantages

I've been developing International Virtual Courses for some time now, call them Virtual Campus, Virtual Mobility or what you like.
In one of my projects (Emove, EU - Life Long Learning), we concluded that VM offers four major advantages:

  • It contributes to the quality of the academic education and lifelong learning for all students. Virtual Mobility is not restricted to a specific period of time or space, which is a key-advantage for any activity in lifelong learning.
  • By providing supplementary courses Virtual Mobility enables students to further individualise and specialise their portfolio.
  • The concept of studying only a portion of a degree at a foreign university based on firm agreements makes it relatively easy to have an academic international experience through distance learning and to internationalise one’s curriculum in an accessible way.
  • For Higher Education institutions this offers the possibility of internationalising their curriculum and fulfilling that part of their mission which is about offering their students education on an international level.
